Therapy That Begins With Your Story
A safe space for healing that doesn’t reduce you to a label. Whether you’re seeking individual, relational, or professional support, this is therapy beyond symptoms—rooted in your context, your pace, and your voice.
Ways I Support Individual and Shared Wellbeing
Individual Counselling / Psychotherapy
Come as you are, even if you do not yet have the words for what you are feeling. This space is an invitation to slow down, to listen inward, and to meet the parts of you that feel stuck, silenced, overwhelmed, or uncertain. Whether you are navigating identity, trauma, grief, burnout, anxiety, or something that does not yet have a name, therapy here is not about fixing you. It is about meaning making, reflection, and co creating a path that feels honest and possible for you.
We move at your pace, with your values guiding the work. Together, we hold curiosity for your emotions, your body, your relationships, and the contexts that shaped you. The intention is not to become a different person, but to reconnect with the version of you that feels more whole, grounded, and in conversation with your own truth.
- Processing developmental trauma, relational trauma, or systemic trauma
- Exploring gender, sexuality, caste, culture, neurodivergence, or other identity experiences
- Working through anxiety, low mood, grief, burnout, or emotional dysregulation
- Navigating life transitions, identity shifts, loss of meaning, or spiritual disconnection
- Understanding patterns of shame, isolation, self criticism, or internal conflicts
- Making sense of your story, your relationships, and the values that guide your life
If you are carrying something alone, or if you are longing for a space where your story can be met with care, this is a place where that work can begin.
Couples & Relational Counselling
This space supports couples, polycules, and chosen families who are navigating connection, rupture, repair, and the many complexities that live within relationships. Relationships are layered. They are shaped by culture, history, care, trauma, power, identity, and the stories we learned long before we met one another. Relational work recognises that conflict is often a signal of deeper needs, vulnerabilities, and patterns that are asking for attention, not evidence of failure.
I work with people in monogamous and non monogamous relationship structures, supporting communication, trust, boundaries, emotional safety, and repair. This space is fully affirming of queer, trans, caste diverse, neurodivergent, inter caste, and non traditional partnerships. Trauma informed principles guide the process, ensuring that no one is blamed, minimised, or pathologised. Trauma focused work enters only when the system feels stable enough to explore deeper wounds and histories.
Relational therapy here is not about deciding who is right or wrong. It is about creating room for honesty, grief, accountability, and connection, while honouring the pace and capacity of each person present.
- Relationship repair, rupture processing, and rebuilding trust
- Polyamory, consensual non monogamy, and relationship diversity support
- Exploring power dynamics, attachment patterns, and unmet relational needs
- Navigating transitions such as cohabitation, separation, parenting, or identity changes
- Clarifying boundaries, consent, emotional safety, and relational agreements
- Supporting inter caste, queer, and neurodiverse relationship experiences
Relational counselling becomes a space to listen, pause, repair, and re imagine what connection can look like for everyone involved. If your relationship is asking for deeper care, this space is here to hold that work with intention and compassion.
Advocacy, Supervision & Mentorship
This space is for therapists, trainees, and care workers who want to practice with intention, clarity, and ethical depth. Supervision and mentorship with me are grounded in postmodern, narrative, trauma informed, trauma focused, and anti oppressive frameworks. These conversations are not hierarchical. They are relational, reflective, and held with the same care and curiosity that shape my clinical work.
Together, we explore power, identity, positionality, transference, countertransference, cultural location, rupture, and repair. We examine how systems shape both the therapist and the therapeutic process. Whether you are new to the field, seeking alignment in your practice, or navigating the tensions of care work, this is a space where your voice, complexity, and growth are held with respect.
- Postmodern, narrative, trauma informed, trauma focused, and queer affirmative supervision
- Exploring transference, countertransference, relational ethics, and moments of rupture
- Contextualising caste, class, gender, disability, sexuality, and politics within therapeutic work
- Support with burnout, boundaries, nervous system regulation, and sustainability in care work
- Identity centred reflection for caste located, queer, trans, neurodivergent, and system impacted therapists
- Mentorship in building and sustaining inclusive, values aligned private practices
Supervision here is not about correction. It is about expanding awareness, strengthening integrity, and supporting you in becoming the kind of therapist that feels true to your commitments, your politics, and your care.
Consultation & Systems Engagement
This work is for institutions, collectives, and communities that are committed to creating cultures of care that are ethical, trauma informed, queer affirmative, and justice aligned. I design and facilitate learning spaces that challenge traditional mental health models and support teams in understanding how trauma, power, identity, and systemic forces shape both care and harm. These engagements are collaborative, context specific, and shaped around the needs and realities of the communities involved.
The focus is not only on skills or information, but on transforming how care is imagined, practiced, and sustained within systems. My past work has included medical colleges, NGOs, educational spaces, advocacy groups, and community organisations across India.
- Designing and facilitating trauma informed, queer affirmative, and de pathologised training programs
- Mental health sensitisation for educators, healthcare providers, and social workers
- Workshops on anti caste mental health and systemic responsibility
- Relationship education and consent centred programming for young people and adults
- Supervision, reflective spaces, and support for organisational staff and care teams
- Contributions to mental health policy, ethics, and systemic consultation
These engagements aim to build systems that hold care with integrity, accountability, and compassion, ensuring that people are met with dignity rather than discipline, context rather than blame, and support rather than stigma.
Integrated Care & Long-Term Engagement
For those seeking depth, continuity, and layered support, this offering is created for people who want to work with me in an integrated and sustained way. It is for individuals, relationships, and organisations that wish to engage more holistically across time, weaving together personal growth, relational work, supervision, consultation, and reflective conversation. This work allows us to hold complexity, pace, and transformation with steadiness.
- Blending individual therapy, relational therapy, and reflective conversations in ways that support your evolving needs
- Long term and narrative rich exploration of identity, trauma, belonging, connection, and meaning
- Ongoing support through major life shifts, grief, transitions, or integration after crisis
- Sustained mentorship or supervision for queer, caste oppressed, neurodivergent, and system impacted therapists
- Embedded consultation for collectives and groups engaged in care work, advocacy, or social transformation
- Co creating healing ecosystems within personal life, professional life, or community spaces
This offering is for those who want a sustained relationship with their growth and with the work. It is for people and systems seeking depth, alignment, and companionship across multiple layers of their healing and practice.
What Working Together Looks Like
Client-Led, Always
You guide the pace, the focus, and the depth of our work. Choice is central to trauma informed care, and there is always space for no, for pause, for grounding, and for renegotiation.
Relational Safety First
Safety is not assumed. It is built slowly, with care, consent, and continuous checking in. The relationship becomes a place where your body and your story can soften, open, or retreat without judgement.
Your Context Matters
Your experiences are understood within caste, gender, sexuality, trauma history, disability, neurodivergence, community, and culture. These contexts are part of the story, not separate from it.
Reflective, Not Directive
This work is not about being corrected or told what to do. It is about reflecting, asking questions, noticing patterns, and reshaping meaning in ways that feel true to you.
Stories, Not Symptoms
Nothing you bring here is reduced to a label. Your emotions, memories, behaviours, and adaptations are explored with curiosity, compassion, and respect for the histories that shaped them.
Warmth with Boundaries
You will find a space that is human, grounded, and relational, held with clear ethical boundaries. Not cold or clinical, but not blurred or overextended. A space where connection and clarity coexist.
Frequently Answered Questions
Why to work with you?
- Not because I have all the answers, but because I will never stop asking with you. Therapy here is not a transaction. It is a relationship. It is a place where your stories are held with care, your choices are respected, and your complexity is never reduced to a checklist. I do not claim neutrality. I work from values that centre dignity, justice, curiosity, collaboration, and care. These values shape how I listen, how I ask, how I challenge, and how I stay accountable.
Is your therapy right for me?
- If you want a space that honours your complexity, centres your lived realities, and resists pathologising labels, you may find this work grounding. My approach is narrative, relational, trauma informed, and trauma focused when needed. I am likely not the best fit if you are looking for quick fixes, clinical labels, or highly protocol driven therapy.
Do you give advice or tell me what to do?
- Rarely. Therapy with me is collaborative, not prescriptive. You hold the wisdom of your own life. My role is to help you access it through reflection, curiosity, and meaning making. I may offer perspective or guidance when it is supportive, but I do not take an authority based or directive stance.
How long does therapy usually last?
- It varies. Some people work with me for a few months, others for years. There is no fixed timeline. We will talk openly about what feels supportive for you and revisit it as your needs change. You are never locked into long term work.
Is this a safe space for me to talk about things like sex, caste, faith, or politics?
- Yes. This is a space where conversations that are silenced or shamed elsewhere can be explored with care. Sex, sexuality, caste, faith, politics, pleasure, trauma, body, identity, and contradiction are all welcome here. Nothing about you is too much.
Do you offer supervision, internships, or mentorship?
- Yes. I support early career therapists, interns, trainees, and professionals who want reflective spaces that are trauma informed, narrative oriented, queer affirmative, and anti oppressive. You can reach out at info@akashmohan.in for more information.
